After much anticipation, I finally got to visit Perfect Day at CocoCay, yesterday. We arrived via Navigator of the Seas, and were in port with her sister ship, Mariner of the Seas.
I’ll get this out of the way first – did it feel busy with two ships? The answer is No! Even facts say that two voyager class ships at maximum capacity, is very close to the number of passengers on an Oasis class ship. I will add that this was a Thanksgiving weekend cruise, so there were lots of families, teens, kids, etc. The longest wait time that we experienced for the slides in Thrill Waterpark($), was about 35 minutes.
When you walk down the pier, towards the pretty, yellow, PERFECT DAY at CocoCay signs, the adrenaline is flowing. You are greeted by Bahamian dancers with bright colored outfits and an island band singing the PERFECT DAY at CocoCay song. It’s a great start to the day. We looked up at the Captain’s Galleon and saw a pirate man – Captain Jack and a woman- Captain Jill, waving to all of the passengers. Argh Matey!
(EXTRA COST- Thrill Waterpark) If you turn to the right, you’ll look up and see the awesome tower of slides, and your adventure begins at Thrill Waterpark($)! No paper tickets are needed, just a quick scan of your SeaPass card and you are ready to go! Then, on your right, you will find lots of lockers – free of charge. Continuing on the path, you have showers and restroom facilities. You’ll see plentiful seating and umbrellas for shade with a view of the wave pool. Speaking of the wave pool, there are fountains to play in for the little cruisers. There are also life jackets available. In the Thrill Waterpark($) area, you will also find the Snack Shack with tasty treats, The Adventure Pool – with lily pads, climbing wall, and rope swings, We can’t forget to mention the fun, Thrill Waterpark($) Cabana’s. They looked wonderful. The slides were AWESOME! There are a couple that you can ride with double, or even triple/quadruple occupancy, but most are single rider slides. So much fun!! Be sure to check your Cruise Planner to purchase passes or cabanas for the Thrill Waterpark($).
(No Extra Cost) For the little adventurers, the options are awesome, as well. You have lots to choose from that are free of charge. Kids will love to splash and play at Splashaway Bay with slides, buckets, sprayers, fountains, they are sure to be soaked and having so much fun! They can also play at Captain’s Galleon Pirate Ship with even more slides(dry) and water shooting fun. The little cruisers will enjoy the beach entry at the Oasis Lagoon pool with fountains and in that area ,it’s only 3 feet deep. Life jackets are provided at Splashaway Bay and the Oasis Lagoon Pool.
Are you getting hungry yet? There’s a delicious lunch served at multiple places. One of the lunch restaurants, is Skipper’s Grill, serving Burgers, Chicken, create your own Tacos, and tasty sandwiches. You’ll find island favorites like fresh fruit, juice, salads, and cookies as well. You can find lunch at Chill Grill, as well. You won’t have trouble finding a table, there are plenty! This is all free of charge.
Be sure to try the Island Special drinks – the fruity & frozen, Coco Loco, and the Funky Buddha – Chilla Thrilla Ale (update: Chilla Thrilla Ale hasn’t been available since the cruising shutdown in 2020) , made especially for Perfect Day at CocoCay! Our favorite hang-out was Captain Jack’s! It’s a great tiki-bar with live entertainment – Captain Jimmy(singer/entertainer) was fantastic! The bar had lots of seating under the shade, and seating on the patio area as well, with a view of Harbour Beach.
(No Extra Charge) Are you looking for some beach action on this private island destination? You’re in luck! There are some beautiful beaches! Head over to Harbour Beach and have a very relaxing time soaking up the sun. Or, maybe you want to spend your time at Chill Island. There is lots of available beach space to build sandcastles, have fun in the waves, float on a beach mat($), and swim. You can rent a beach bed($) here or even a private cabana($). This area also has fantastic snorkeling. There is a sunken airplane 150 feet from shore, to explore. What kinds of sea creatures will you see? You’ll have to check-it out. Challenge your family and friends to a game of ping-pong, basketball, beach volleyball, soccer like bowling, foot billiards, and more! The fun doesn’t stop!
There’s STILL more to explore at Perfect Day at CocoCay. I mentioned the Oasis Lagoon pool before. It’s awesome! It is the largest fresh-water pool in the Caribbean. The floor of the pool is so smooth, which sounds weird, but I didn’t know how much I preferred it, until I stepped onto it. There are benches along the edges of the pool (also smooth, so no snagging of your swimsuits, ladies! Yay!) and ledges for drinks. The Oasis Lagoon Pool also features a SWIM-UP bar, and let me tell you that the bar service is fantastic. There are more than enough bartenders, and they ask you what you’d like as soon as you are walking/swimming towards them. It was great. Don’t want to get wet, but still want to hang out here? Half of the bar is on land. You can do that! A lifeguard comes around the pool with a bin, to collect empty drink cups/cans. There are lots of resort style loungers in the pool to relax and get your suntanning on. They play party/dance music near the swim-up band and everyone is having a good time. Again, there are so many pool loungers with umbrellas in the sand along the Oasis Lagoon.
(Extra Cost) Have you seen the beautiful and colorful balloon floating in the air? That’s the Up Up and Away balloon, which floats 450 feet in the air. You can take a ride on this and let me tell you that the views atop the island are absolutely breathtaking. It’s a ten minute ride and weather conditions have to be just right for it to be able to fly properly.
Our day was fun, thrilling, relaxing, amazing, and well, you guessed it ….. PERFECT!
I will tell you that my favorite part about Perfect Day at CocoCay, is that, it really is an extension of the ship. There are so many different things to do and everyone can have the PERFECT DAY at COCOCAY, in their own way! The choice is up to you, and you will enjoy whatever you choose to do!
